Making Safeguarding Personal

Camphill Village is a charity that supports people with learning disabilities to help them speak up and live a life of opportunity. We endeavour to uphold the principles underpinning 'Making Safeguarding Personal' (MSP). MSP is a sector-led initiative which aims to develop an ‘outcomes’ focus on safeguarding work and a range of responses to support people to improve or resolve their circumstances. MSP empowers the person and helps build resilience. It helps people feel they are being listened to. It’s about seeing people as experts in their own lives and working alongside them. It’s about having conversations with individuals about what they would like to happen in their own safeguarding. We are all different and have different preferences, circumstances and lifestyles. All information shared with the individual needs to be given in a way that is accessible to them, taking into account people's preferred communication and understanding. We work closely with the people we support to discuss their options and what they would like to do about their situation to improve their quality of life and safety.
