The scrap I used in this video had tape, paper and glue on it. I burned it off and added boric acid to the crucible as a flux. The boric acid captures the carbon from the contaminates. I used a quartz stirring rod to stir the molten silver in order to achieve a clean button before pouring into an iron ingot mold. The iron ingot mold is oiled and warmed with the torch.
