Come join me in Nashville for a 3 day workshop on Creating Expressive Layers. June 25 - 27, 2026. Get info here: https://www.marabethquinart.com/nashville-workshop Mixed media artists are notorious for loving their layers! I love semi-transparent layers so when I make papers, I am looking for that translucent quality. I’ll show you how I make organic patterns on semi-transparent paper with diluted paint so when you adhere it to your painting surface, the pattern comes to life and the background paper disappears. It’s just like magic! If you’d like to watch the video I mentioned about creating semi-transparent tinted papers, you an find that here: Creating Collage Papers that Make Soft and Luminous Layers https://youtu.be/LxM_WFlPlws Video Chapters: 0:00 Introduction to Making Semi-Transparent Patterned Papers 0:52 What you will need to make these papers 1:57 Let’s make patterned papers 10:24 Here's what they look like when dry 12:41 Integrating these papers into your paintings (See below for supplies) Join me at the Mastering Mixed Media Expo FREE online event, beginning May 1st!
