This is the essential precursor for making AZO transparent conductive film and a good example of a double displacement reaction - where two soluable salts are mixed and an insoluable product results. Pretty much all acetates are soluable and decompose on heating to give the corresponding metal oxide. It's a good way of forming thin films and of doping the oxide prior to decomposition.
