Hyper-Wordle is available on archive.org - https://archive.org/details/hypercard_hyper-wordle I review a HyperCard stack I created for the game Wordle. I go over how the game works, problems I ran into, some of the limitations of HyperCard, and explain some of the code. I know I'm going to get comments on this. It's pronounced "word-el", not "word-le". I constantly flip between the two through the video. Sorry, not sorry. I also call a "card" a "page" once. I sometimes refer to things based on my Microsoft and web programming experience. I will sometimes call a "handler" a "message" when it's really a message "handler". And I called the resource fork the "registry" - again revealing my Microsoft background. I make reference to a couple of books that I've found helpful. I was incorrect regarding PDF versions of these books being available. As I said, both can be found on the used market pretty cheaply. "The Complete HyperCard 2.2 Handbook" by Danny Goodman. An earlier version is available at archive.org. https://archive.org/details/The_Complete_HyperCard_Handbook "HyperTalk 2.2 The Book" by Dan Winkler, Scott Kamins, and Jeanne Devoto 00:37 Spoiler warning. 01:00 HyperCard. 02:00 The game board. 02:17 Debugging technique using hidden fields. 05:25 Description of the the game board and resource limitations. 10:29 Help! 12:02 Show a hidden field. 13:40 Button properties. 15:10 Finally, some code! 22:30 "me" not me, the HyperText keyboard "me". 25:10 Navigation between cards. 27:40 Using the message box to execute commands. 30:20 The statistics card. 33:00 The main game code description. 36:20 "The Complete HyperCard 2.2 Handbook" by Danny Goodman and "HyperTalk 2.2 The Book" by Dan Winkler, Scott Kamins, and Jeanne Devoto 41:10 Handlers vs Functions 44:50 Looping with the "repeat" command. 46:40 The keyboard handler. 56:20 Is the word acceptable? 01:00:00 We Won/We Lost 01:00:30 The "answer" function. 01:01:40 What "it" is. 01:04:10 Chunking expressions are... expressive. 01:07:00 Blah, blah, debugger, next time, blah. 01:08:10 More game demo.
