Mask Making - Painting and Textures - Class tutorial (PART 2)

Let's make some masks! Mask making is an incredibly old tradition. For thousands of years, in nearly every culture, people have created masks for a variety of reasons: Celebration, Spiritual/Rituals, Entertainment, Ceremonial, Protection, to create Fear, and numerous other reasons. Today we are going to focus on part 2, PAINTING and adding TEXTURES to the mask. There are so many great ways to paint and decorate your mask but this video will just go over some of the most important things to remember and will demonstrate some helpful techniques. We will also be using acrylic paint, however tempera will work (although it might flake a little, in my experience). Feel free to get creative with your painting designs and your use of textures. ANYTHING can be used to create some cool textures on your mask! Just remember to add things that will enhance your purpose and design and not distract from it.
