Math Discourse in a Blended Learning Environment Target Audience: Grades Primary - 5 Area of Focus: Blended Learning/Flipped Classroom Session Description: This session will focus on ways to increase math discourse in a blended learning environment. Through the use of a variety of easy to use digital tools, participants will explore practical ways to have meaningful mathematical conversations both in the classroom and online. From number talks to formative feedback, math discourse is essential to create a deeper understanding of what we know and where we need to go next. Presenter Biography: Dwayne has been in the field of education for over 20 years with some time spent teaching in Ontario, Japan, and Taiwan. In Nova Scotia, he has predominantly taught lower elementary students, and this past year he was a math coach with the HRCE. Dwayne has an M.Ed degree from MSVU and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Technology from CBU. His family and dogs keep him busy with long walks, watching Netflix, and doing lots of yard work.
