DRAWING AND IDENTIFYING IMAGE POINT GIVEN SHEAR DESCRIPTION
Note:
1. All lines (Points) Move parallel to the invariant line.
2. Each point NOT parallel to the invariant line meets its image at the invariant line.
Example 1
A rectangle has vertices P(2, 1), Q(4, 1), R(4, 4) and S(2, 4)
a. Draw on the same axes the object and its image after undergoing a shear transformation with line y=2 invariant and shear factor 2. Hence state the coordinates of the image.
b. Dr aw on the same axes the object and its image after undergoing a shear transformation with line x=4 invariant and shear factor 2. Hence state the coordinates of the image.
c. Draw on the same axes the object and its image after undergoing a shear transformation with line y=-1 invariant and shear factor -3. Hence state the coordinates of the image.
