Bible Teacher Lee Arnold exposits chapter five of Matthew's gospel narrative. In this chapter, Jesus begins the well-known Sermon on the Mount with the beatitudes; "Blessed is he who...etc.." This is the part that most people know and like, but there's more! As Lee explains, Jesus is telling all who would be citizens of the kingdom of heaven that true righteousness is more than avoiding sinful actions under the law but avoiding the very attitudes that lead to such sinful actions -- a standard much too high for any human besides Jesus. Fortunately, He [God the Father] made [Jesus] the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
