People: Come and hear the good news of God’s love for all creation. Leader: Restoring God, you have turned defeat into sudden victory, and re-created a world filled with the joy of peace and shalom. People: Come and hear the good news of God’s awesome powers. Leader: Renewing God, we respond to your mighty deeds with songs of praise, worship and thankful prayers. You alone are God! People: Come and hear the good news of God’s blessings on us all. Glory and honor, power and dominion belong to God alone. So too our stories cannot be disconnected from those in the past who have shaped the steps we take – saints and sinners, rebels and followers. They are part of our story as we are part of theirs. We pray we might be used to strengthen the story of faith that will be told by those who will come after we are gone. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. *A MOTHER’S DAY AFFIRMATION (adapted from Annie’s Web Page) Mothers come in all different shapes and sizes. We don't even get to choose our mothers. Most mothers are married. some mothers are single, some have adopted children, some are widows raising children alone, some share joint custody of their children. For some Mother's Day is a very difficult day. they might have lost a child to an early tragic death, may have given up a child for adoption and never even held him or her in their arms. They may be women whose hearts breaks every Mother's Day because they have not been able to conceive or have endured many miscarriages. Their arms are empty and they ache. BUT God is greater then our circumstances and He knows our heart and hurts. God sees the BIG picture and we often only see the small pieces of the puzzle. Regardless of our present life circumstances, we raise our voices to God in praise, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
