Kitchen scrap compost harvesting. I have collected all my kitchen scrap ( vegetables only no meat or dairy products )throughout the year and now it’s time to harvest compost for my garden and empty my compost bin for more compost. I put leaves from last year and grass cuttings as well in there. Also I put egg shells coffee grounds, tea leaves ( since I drink a lot of herbal tea), egg cartons, rolls from toilet paper…. Used carton boxes. Do not forget to water it periodically. Also since I have chickens now I will put chicken bedding from the coop and from the run in there as well! Earth worms and other beneficial creatures will break all that materials and decompose it for me and I will get free and nutrient rich soil. When I emptied my compost bin there were no smell whatsoever! I would say it smells good actually like a rich soil smells.
