Fluids are at the heart of Maya's dynamic fluid and gas simulation. At least, they used to be. Now, since Maya 2017, there are other ways to create realistic looking and behaving fluids using the Nucleus engine (which I covered in previous tutorials).
However, Fluids are still around and play their role for creating oceans and waves and wakes. Here I give you an introduction into the basics of Fluids in Maya. We create a container with gas, change the resolution, convert the gas to a liquid, let the liquid emit from the letter "a" and finally stir up the gas with a simple polygon disc.
