In this video we walk through the retargeting workflow for Maya in 2025!
Maya continues to be the absolute best program for motion capture retargeting. It has a very clean retargeting and bone mapping system, it can create IK control rigs AUTOMATICALLY after you've defined a character's skeleton, and foot sliding simply does not happen in Maya. All of these things make it a formidable program to hand motion capture - even if it can be a little intimidating at first.
