There are many kinds of meditation with many different purposes. The style often practiced in Yin yoga is mindfulness: a practice of presence that is based on simple awareness and calm abiding -- of being right here, right now. In this video you be briefly introduced to a form of meditation that you can use before and after a Yin Yoga practice. You will learn about some of the benefits of meditation, some contraindications and how to meditate. Once you have watched this video, try out either the Opening Mediation or the Finishing Meditation videos, which are designed to be used as the first and last stages of a yoga practice.
