Meet Crystal

Meet Crystal, 2x #breastcancer survivor. Crystal shares her story of two breast cancer diagnoses and her treatment journey at West. She states that even despite two diagnoses, she is still able to enjoy her active, outdoor lifestyle with her family thanks to help from our #PalliativeCare team. Crystal encourages all patients feeling discomfort in symptoms brought on by a diagnosis and/or treatment to consult Palliative Care for help. As beautifully said by our Palliative Care provider, Dr. W. Clay Jackson, "Palliative Care gets involved in a patient's cancer journey for 1 of 2 reasons: 1. tough symptoms, or 2. tough decisions. Palliative care doesn't always mean 'end of life care.' If a patient has difficult symptoms such as nausea or pain, or if there is a difficult decision to be made about what treatment is most helpful for the patient, our West network offers palliative care to address these barriers to ease the cancer journey and promote quality of life."
