The frequency of a tuning fork is determined by the effect of resonance with a vibrating string. The tuning fork forces the string to vibrate between the bridges in its fundamental frequency. When the paper rider placed at the centre between the two bridges, flies off, then we know that the mid-point is an antinode. The fundamental frequency is characterised by two nodes at the ends and one antinode at the centre.
