Melodic Dictation Workshop #11
Melodic Dictation Workshops (Preparation for the AP Music Theory Exam FRQ 1 and FRQ 2) This is the eleventh in a series of weekly workshops that are interactive learning sessions to improve your melodic dictation skills. Start in January and finish the series in time for the exam in May. [Note: I had to re-upload this video because there was a graphics problem in the first one. That's why session 11 is out of chronological order in the uploads list.] We will be working through successively more difficult melodic dictations, covering major and minor, simple and compound meter, treble and bass clef, and the melodic types that appear on FRQ 1 and FRQ 2. Session #11: #3 (chromatically altered scale degree) in minor, real-time dictation practice, and compound duple rhythmic patterns Bio: Jocelyn Neal is chair of the music department at UNC Chapel Hill, and has worked as a consultant for the College Board for the AP Music Theory course and as a reader for the exam since 2014. She was on the committee that wrote the Course and Exam Description for AP Music Theory in 2019.
