Merging is late merging ok?
So next time you encounter the late merger, remember it is the best procedure to leave the lane that ends; at its end. So here are some champion mergers, drivers waiting till their lane ends and so therefore minimizing the delays to all those behind them. They still need to give way and signal and be polite, but this should happen at the end of their lane. Unfortunately our driver training and licensing is so poor and Australians are not open to analysis, feedback or horn toots, that too many get nervous with this idea of merging late and assume it is better to merge early. They think they are doing good and probably regard the late merger as someone cheating or jumping ahead. Little do they know they are adding to the delays we all hate. This video is promoting cautious and considerate late merging. Not dive bombing aggressively well after the lane ends. Because that is the rude, inconsiderate and selfish part of merging!
