Methylcellulose 2%

Procedure
1.Weigh out required amount of methyl cellulose (calculate quantity based on percent strength).
2.Heat 50 mL of water to 65-700C.
3.Slowly add methyl cellulose to the hot water with gentle stirring (vigorous stirring creates air bubbles in the gel).
4.After all the methyl cellulose has been added, remove from heat and allow cooling slightly with stirring (stir continuously to ensure uniform mixing).
5.Add cold water up to 100 mL with stirring.
6.An ice bath may be required for further gelling.
