Miami Beach Case Study

The City of Miami Beach experiences many flood-related challenges. Tides can overwhelm streets even on sunny days, rising sea levels encroach on neighborhoods, and saltwater intrusion threatens the city’s groundwater supply. To better understand the hydrogeology underlying Miami Beach, the city initiated a four-year project to collect continuous data on a large network of monitoring sites. A project of this scale needed a reliable and robust software platform to access, manage and store the volume and frequency of data collected.
