“Fly Away” was recorded in early 1986 for the Bad album, but was left unreleased due to it not being strong enough to contend with the other tracks considered for the album. In 1998, Jackson's sister, Rebbie, recorded the track for inclusion on her "Yours Faithfully" album, with Michael's demo being released on the reissue of Bad along with the 1988 mix of Streetwalker.
This remix was created through the use of combining Rebbie's mixes instrumental along with adlibs by michael, as well as elements from Michael's 1986 demo, to create a completed solo version of the 1998 remix.
