Micro Motor Comparison
If you are curious what motors and propellers will give you the best performance for your micro quad, QX90, or any other multirotor that uses 8.5X20 brushed motors I have done some testing to compare the thrust output differences between the stock QX90, Hubsan X4, and SpinTech motors. To spice things up I even bring in some popular propellers for these micro-sized motors. I test the stock QX90 propellers are the same as the Hubsan X4 , Ladybird, and the Parrot Rolling Spider. To get consistent results in my testing I use EZ-GUI on my phone to communicate through a USB OTG cable with the F3 Evo Micro flight controller. This way I can be certain that I am getting full power to the motor that is mounted in the test stand. I designed and 3D printed the test stand so I could take consistent repeatable data. I also show you how to make and use this DIY 3D printed fixture. I am careful to only used batteries that are at 4.2V for every motor run to give accurate comparable data. Now if I could only fit these Spintech motors swinging parrot props into a Tiny Whoop that would be awesome!
