Jason Maynard is a security expert with the beard and youtube followers to prove it. He takes us through specific capabilities that are needed for a security tool set to be effective in a digital operations environment. SERIES DESCRIPTION This video is part of a longer series of sessions from Cisco’s Virtual Mining Summit in February 2022. At this summit, 10 speakers from Cisco System’s mining community presented on a variety of topics related to digital operations. The first day has a diverse mix of industrial security, industrial collaboration and other topics. The second day was focused on exploring 4 different wireless technologies in the mine and the use cases each of them excel at. Industrial Collaboration - https://youtu.be/wB9bdU5xOjc Cisco is joined by Keith Heggaton from Instant Connect to discuss the latest trends in radio replacement including capabilities around global talk groups, workflows and location-based alerts. Mobile Worker - https://youtu.be/GjZVzThY9-0 In this session Matt Nalbone describes some powerful use cases enabled by connecting workers everywhere in the mine. Use cases include Permit to Work, Asset Management, Remote Access and Visibility and online documentation of procedures and incidents. Industrial Security - https://youtu.be/v652uOo455w Jason Maynard is a security expert with the beard and youtube followers to prove it. He takes us through specific capabilities that are needed for a security tool set to be effective in a digital operations environment. Day 2 Sessions: Wifi - https://youtu.be/qDs-0F70iOE Ian Procyk has a rich history in wireless and explains the importance of Wi-Fi 6 in today’s world of 5G and other wireless protocols LoRaWAN - https://youtu.be/0M3l8kO3IYA Kevin Holcomb explains how this low bit rate technology is rising in popularity and very effective at collecting a large number of data points very cost effectively across a significant geographic area. LTE/5G - https://youtu.be/a3kQuLOb7NM Perhaps the most lauded technology today is explained by Rick Galatioto. He introduces us to a new service being offered by Cisco to provide a hybrid ‘as a service’ offering that has central management and policy integration while keeping data on the mine site in a resilient architecture. This new offering will help LTE/5G to become a natural extension of the existing enterprise network. CURWB - https://youtu.be/N6drlkipF3E There are some tricky low latency, high bandwidth use cases like tele-remote drilling, dozing that have a solid connectivity option that’s shipping today. Cisco’s ultra reliable wireless technology from the Fluidmesh acquisition provides unique solutions today for mobile and backhaul use cases. Don Leyn takes us through the options.
