In February of 2001, AnimeonDVD reported that they were hearing rumors that Gonzo’s anime Vandread had been licensed by Media Blasters. In addition to those rumors, Gonzo had been contacting various fansub groups to tell them that Media Blasters had acquired the license and asked them to stop distributing fansubs of the series. Anime News Network reached out to Media Blasters to ask about the license, but they decided not to comment.
