Misty

This is a song from my Mother's piano repertoire. She played from the age of 4 and at 11 studied at Valdosta State College. She was an amazing pianist and organist, playing at many churches, as well as occasional performances and all of my father's family's get together and sings, as they called them. He came from a family of nine children and none of them were bashful, all of them good vocalist, ability to hit the harmonies, and Uncle Loomis had an outstandingly wonderful tenor voice. They were a site to see and hear, and Mother played anything they asked, though most were gospel songs and Baptist Hymnal songs. When I got old enough and dared it, I would sing a few rock ballads, and songs like this one, Misty. I sang this with Mother many times, so when she was in Hospice, I learned it on guitar & played it for her many times. My sisters and I were so fortunate to have her for a mother and Pop for our father. The music was written by Erroll Garner and the lyrics later written by Johnny Burke.
