MITAGS | Maritime Apprenticeship Program

The maritime apprenticeship program (MAPS) at MITAGS gives people who want to become officers in the merchant marine the training and experience necessary for licensure. Our program is Coast Guard-approved and allows you to become an officer or mate on a tugboat, cruise ship or container ship. MAPS helps people new to the industry get their license through hands-on practical learning and classroom training. The curriculum is balanced to reinforce classroom knowledge with real-world experience. MAPS is also one of the leading programs in apprenticeship. During this program, you'll have an apprenticeship with a company. These companies often hire their apprentices, and many program graduates work with the company they apprenticed with.
