ModbusBox Firmware Makers

ModbusBox’s key elements are the electronic hardware and the most important the software embedded on the very popular ESP32 Soc. This project has been developed by IOTBITS and it took us more than a year to develop the embedded software. The main objective of the ModbusBox is to connect to cloud IOT platform industrial devices that uses Modbus RTU as its base protocol, one side of the ModbusBox connects to the RS485 network up to 4 devices, the other side there is a Wi-Fi connection that provide the way out to connect to a MQTT broker, the data read from the Modbus devices will be sent serialized in Json format . The ModbusBox core features is the flexibility and the easy of use of our development. The device configuration can be done accessing to the device typing the hostname in any web browser, the configuration pages allows setup of the application starting with the Wi-Fi access point selection, Modbus slaves configuration from drop down list, and lastly the MQTT connection. New slaves can be added by simply downloading and editing a device manifest written in Json format which is very easy to read. After adding new Modbus slaves with its register the file, it can be uploaded to ModbusBox and the new devices will show up on the slaves configuration section.
