Welcome to Modular Ableton, my new series of video tutorials and demonstrations exploring the brand new CV Tools pack of Max for Live devices. These devices are currently in Beta but will be getting an official release soon. As I proceed there may be issues or bugs which come up but are fixed later (if that happens I will update the video description accordingly). In this first video I will be showing you how to clock your Ableton session's Master BPM from an incoming voltage gate signal, and then explore some of what happens when we modulate the tempo of that signal with CV generated within Live. In other words, Ableton Krell. A note on clocking Ableton. In this video I never actually demonstrate a stable clock, which was probably not a great idea. Getting Live's BPM to respond cleanly to an incoming voltage gate is a matter of setting the threshold and beat division settings properly. in my next video I will cover the basics of clocking in and out. If you have any questions or requests for future videos, leave a comment below. Stay tuned for the next video in the series.
