Modular Interference - Power Station
This is an experiment I've been wanting to try for a while. Years ago I bought one of Jez Riley-French's Coil Pickup microphones, which pick up the sound of electro-magnetic interference given off by devices. I thought it would be fun to try it on the local power station and try running it through my modular. This video is a bit of a departure from my usual Modular By Nature format where I use only natural sounds, so I'm calling it Modular Interference. Hopefully this will kick off a new series of videos exploring using the same techniques I've been working on with unnatural and man-made sound sources. In addition to the JRF Coil Pickup, I also had my usual Rode NTG-3 shotgun mic running through my system to pick up the surrounding ambience of birds, baseball bats, and people walking by. Big thanks to the anonymous passer-by that contributed the spoken word segment at the beginning! This is also one of the first videos where I have not included Rainmaker in my rig. Instead, I used the 4MS Dual Looping Delay. I also used Springray 2 and Bifold, and Marbles instead of Metropolix.
