A tutorial on how to configure Nagios Core or Nagios XI to monitor a WordPress instance for updates to the currently installed WordPress core, plugins or themes. Using the check_wp_version plugin you are able to remotely connect to the LAMP server to check the currently running WordPress version. These results are then submitted to the Nagios XI server. The results will be displays on the Nagios XI or Nagios Core web interface, notifying of the available update to WordPress.
