You get quite a ways away from the mountain, far enough that nobody seems to be around. You begin hearing screams coming from the mountain. Screams you can't quite say you recognize. The screams, they get louder and louder and seem to be approaching quickly, and the closer they get the more screams you start to hear that come and go rather quickly. You turn around, looking back on the commotion. And that's when you see them. Undyne and Papyrus have charged through the onslaught of humans and are more than determined to bring an end to you. Even Papyrus sees no more redeeming qualities in you, someone who's willing to kill even their *own* kind. You might be stronger, but they're not ready in the slightest to give up. Freedom is within reach, to let you kill them would put to waste everything they've had to do to even get here. Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board. --- I didn't want to break the narration too much so I'll address here how exactly this might work. Undyne has her eyes set on one goal and one goal alone. She basically barrels past whoever shows up to "take action", knocking them out cold. Undyne and Papyrus are pretty strong in their own rights and I think in this particular instance (especially given (this) Papyrus' familiarity with violence as a necessary evil) Papyrus wouldn't be trying to take some sort of moral high ground when they're some of the last monsters to even live at this point. Undyne doesn't really think to take anyone's SOULs straight through their bodies, nor does she reasonably have the power to do so -- she was only really able to do that with the help of soul power to begin with. Instead she's just focused on catching up with the person who committed mass extinction upon monsterkind. There's no more humans nearby to stop them anymore, but it's not like that would stop them. Additionally: "How does Undyne even find out?" There's a reason Papyrus was absent from the throne room, and it wasn't because he died. He simply went looking for Undyne.
