Moonlight & Roses | Robert Billings 1925

I received this roll in an unusually sad and dirty state, as you can see from the thumbnail picture. Just barely, I was able to salvage it. It required a lot of careful and delicate erasing of the soot off the beginning of the roll (as well as one random place much farther into the roll), a new leader, a splice at the beginning, tape to repair the numerous tears, etc...apparently someone even sat on the roll at some point as the spool itself was bent and I had to replace it. I'm doing my best to give it a more dignified life from this point on! Condition aside, this is a lovely song and Billings gives it a wonderfully congenial treatment. Is the interlude from something? It sounds so familiar. If someone knows what it is, I'd love to know. US player piano roll 42881, issued for May 1925.
