We met *Matthew* from *Morphor* at Superbooth 2026 who introduced the *Morphor Echon 6* is a six-voice analogue polyphonic synthesizer built around BBD-based resonators rather than traditional oscillator-and-filter architecture. Each voice uses a discrete delay-line resonator that tracks pitch and responds dynamically to the incoming excitation signal, giving the instrument a character that often feels more acoustic and reactive than conventional analogue polysynths. Depending on how it is programmed, the ECHON 6 can move between plucked and bowed textures, soft pads, basses, and more abstract evolving sounds. The exciter section combines analogue oscillators, noise sources, and external audio inputs, all shaped through envelopes and filtering before reaching the resonators. This setup allows for a wide range of timbral variation without relying heavily on effects processing. The resonators themselves include feedback, filtering, polarity, and stereo controls, making the synth particularly suited to layered harmonic textures and slowly shifting tones. A large part of the instrument's flexibility comes from its modulation system. The 9×32 modulation matrix provides extensive routing options, including polyphonic aftertouch and key tracking, while keeping assignments relatively immediate through dedicated controls and shortcuts. In practice, the ECHON 6 feels less like a traditional subtractive polysynth and more like a hybrid between analogue synthesis and physical modelling, with an emphasis on experimentation and detailed sound shaping.
