In this video, we will discuss the design of a Widlar current source using MOSFETs. This current source is mainly used to create very small currents, on the order several micro amperes. In order to get the same low current with current mirror or Wilson current source, you will need to use a large resistor, which is not always practical, especially in IC design. We will determine the required reference current and the component value for a required load current. We will also do parameter sweep analysis and discuss the effect of the change in load voltage on the load current.
