Moving Sucks
Moving is never fun but Count Spatula has a particularly bad time of it. Be sure to check out the sequel - "Spatula Has Risen From the Grave" - https://youtu.be/CGS9-BvDonw My animation opus in film school - it may not be executed well but I still love the story. Traditionally animation of this type used a painted background with characters and moving bits painted on clear cels. This allows you to reuse the background and only re-paint parts that move for each frame. I foolishly decided to do mine with ink and colored pencils meaning I had to redraw and color everything in the frame - every - single - time. I was too far in when I realized my mistake. 300+ drawings and a deferred grade later I finally got it done in 1995. Shot on a massive 16mm Oxberry animation stand that looked like a torture device - I'll upload some footage of the camera if I can find it. Transfers were standard def on 3/4" tape. I only had 2 tracks available for music and sound effects. I did voices and pulled music from some favorite soundtracks.
