Although they can be dealt with purely configuration based approach, dynamic backends are best deal in XSLT/Gateway Script coding. The coding approach gives you much more flexibility to implement your own custom logic of routing.
Configuration based approach is more appropriate for scenarios that require quicker and faster development.
The concept of static and dynamic backend doesn't change with object types in DataPower. In other words, no matter you are dealing with MPGW or WSP or XML firewall or any other object, the concept remains the same.
