my venice
my most prose video ever! yay! great to have on loop in art galleries where you sit in on for about a minute and a half and then leave. This is a very personal piece actually. My whole dad’s side is from a small town near Venice and have been going every year of my life. I’ve have a friend who goes to school in Venice and when I’m with him we always go around these areas. Italy isn’t the best place in the world. In fact, I don’t really like going back there. I love my family and friends, but the country is stuck in a time capsule. I could go on about how I believe their politics are backwards and how they never plan to change their dated systems, but I don’t wish to. Though I’d like to point out how the Italian government passed a law in 2018 that states that kids don’t need to have their vaccines to go to school! Backwards! Of course the culture there is marvellous but at the same time its not. To quote La Meglio Gioventu: “L'Italia è un paese da distruggere, un posto bello e inutile, destinato a morire.” (“Italy is a country to destroy, a place that is beautiful and useless, destined to die.”) I made this piece the day before leaving back home. I wanted to record my Venice in a sense. I have this feeling I won’t be going back too much for a while, so something in me told me to capture it. It’s not supposed to be entertaining or well done. Most of the shots even suck! But they mean something to me! I must've looked crazy filming every 2 seconds
