OSHA has deemed the week of May 4, 2026 through May 8, 2026 as National Stand Down for Safety Week - emphasis on fall prevention and protection.
Falls continue to be a major cause of injuries in the workplace and they can be prevented by having proper training protocols in place, workers taking the extra minute to do their work safely, workers being empowered to stop work and ask questions if safety is compromised, and workers using some common sense. Employers should routinely inspect the workplace and monitor workers for compliance to safety and reward safe behavior.
