This video focuses on the first eight rules of inference in the natural deduction system. The truth functional mechanics of each rule is discussed, as are the general strategies and tactics of a proof sequence that uses these rules. Following Baronett's "Logic" (2nd ed.), Chapter 8 (Sections A-D), the notation used is the same as found in, e.g., Hurley and Copi.
Although Baronett's text is followed for all the relevant videos posted here, for the most part, the concepts and skills presented are the same as other critical thinking textbooks, e.g., Hurley and Copi/Cohen. Differences are almost entirely stylistic, not substantive.
