Finally assembled the first prototype PCB of the Nestronic, got it working, and installed it into my 3D printed enclosure base. Here it is, playing an example VGM file from a notable NES game. The ultimate goal of this project is a hardware VGM (video game music) player that can also double as an alarm clock. The not-yet-built top half of the enclosure will be where I'm going to mount the speaker and install another PCB with all the control buttons. The system is based off the NES CPU (RP2A03) for audio synthesis and the ESP32 microcontroller on the front-end. For some project background: http://hecgeek.blogspot.com/2018/02/nestronic-1.html http://hecgeek.blogspot.com/2018/03/nestronic-2.html The PCB was designed in KiCad, and manufactured by OSH Park with help from OSH Stencils. I assembled it myself, and did reflow soldering in a Whizoo Controleo3 oven. Preliminary schematics are in the second linked blog post. Final schematics and project files will be posted later in the project's development.
