Networked Robotics Testbed
Controlling multiple autonomous robots to solve tasks collaboratively is challenging due to unreliable and resource-limited wireless communication, as well as the inherently distributed nature of information. Our Networked Robotics Testbed enables researchers to experiment with algorithms that jointly consider control, communication, and computation in multi-agent systems, incorporating both real-world and virtual agents to support scalable experimentation. Built around the modular balancing robot Bilbo, the platform captures practical trade-offs between fast local control (self-balancing) and slower distributed information fusion over the air. Using this platform, we showcase our fast and scalable consensus protocol (paper and video) that leverages Over-the-Air Computation (OTA-C) technology for efficient information fusion in a multi-robot target-tracking application. The testbed enables rapid prototyping and evaluation of next-generation algorithms for collaborative robotic systems operating over wireless networks.
