In this video I explain the three core types of blockchain tokens: fungible tokens, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and soulbound tokens. Each type has different properties and potential use cases, from representing interchangeable value to unique digital assets and non-transferable credentials.
I also share my thoughts on why the current token landscape feels somewhat limited and how these basic token models can be extended in more interesting ways. Drawing from ideas in my upcoming book, Smart Contract Innovation, I discuss how variations on these token types could unlock many new business applications.
