When creating jewelry or other art pieces and requiring a jump ring, wire connection, or extra chain without altering the design, drilling or laser-cutting a hole can be disruptive. You may end up with a piece of painted jewelry that now has a hole from front to back. To achieve a more distinctive look, consider engraving a channel in the piece instead.
