After building eight years, I completed Newcomen’s vacuum steam engine.
It is a working replica of Newcomen’s Atmospheric Engine from Teylers Museum, Haarlem, The Netherlands, registered under number 80.
This is one of four engines in the world that still exist.
The working is based upon the principle that steam, enclosed in a cylinder with piston, condenses when cold water is injected.
Newcomen’s Steam Engine can be seen as the start of the industrial revolution.
