Nick is a Pretzel
We’re joined by Nick Floyd —a 24-year-old from Temecula, California who showed up to the podcast with a cooler full of Aplós plum drinks and chocolate-covered pretzels. (Aplós, if you’re reading this… please sponsor us.) Nick grew up in what he describes as a “beautiful… but boring as f***” town for a creative queer kid. We talk about small-town boredom, lonely kid energy, and how curiosity pushes people to explore the world earlier than they expect. The conversation drifts into teenage drinking stories, fake IDs, and sneaking into gay bars before turning 21 just to find queer community. Before apps and social media, the only way to meet other gay people was simply showing up somewhere and hoping you’d find your people. We also talk about the fear of sex when you’re young, awkward early experiences, mannequins, curiosity, and the strange ways people begin learning about intimacy. Nick also shares what his ideal date actually looks like and the kind of connection he values today. This episode is about curiosity, awkward beginnings, finding community, and the strange path from growing up bored to figuring out who you are.
