Thanks For Watching! Nick Johnson here, First Night Alone was written when that's exactly what was going on in my life. Going from a small family and a house to suddenly you're alone in a tiny apartment wondering what went wrong? That first night alone is a special kind of pain and the good memories are relentless. Any time I hear or play this song it takes me straight back there. I remember crying while we were mixing this song in Antoine's studio, crying in front of one of your hero's, not the coolest look haha. But, I poured a lot of feels into this one. A sad song in a major key somehow makes it even sadder to me, bittersweet simplicities, the good memories just hurt worse. Anyways, I know there are a lot of people feeling that way right now and I hope this helps.. The video was shot at the cabin my grandfather built, who unfortunately is no longer with us.
