Using Back-Button Focusing means that the AF-ON button will do all the focusing and the shutter button will only take a photo, and will no longer focus as well.
So why is this so important! Well without Back-Button Focusing every time you press the shutter button the camera focuses on your subject and if you want to re-compose your framing then you’d have to move your focus point to do this.
For wildlife photography using Back-Button Focusing makes it so much easier to shot birds in flight and get more photos of what you’re taking.
