We often wish to benefit from spirituality, philosophy and inquiry, which is natural and reasonable, but sometimes truth, love, and self-realization are beyond pros, cons, and pragmatism. Karma, or the consequences of infinity, can lead to non-preferable outcomes temporarily, but when we abide in truth, we gain eternity - that which is beyond impermanent practical benefits and preferences.
