Stepping away from a cylinder to the more realistic example of an airfoil has brought with it added complexity. We no longer can have simple closed form solutions. We now have to take into account the geometry of the airfoil. We also will need to switch from thinking just about lift and drag to thinking about the normal and axial components of the body forces acting on our airfoil. These normal and axial components can help us to find valuable information.
