Farmacist extension agronomist Mika Rowston presents a short snapshot on nozzle selection for flat booms in the sugarcane industry, to increase coverage, improve canopy penetration (in alternative crops) and reduce drift. Four different nozzles are presented, including pre-orifice nozzles, low-pressure air induction and high-pressure air induction nozzles. Discussion includes, 2,4-D APVMA legislation and droplet size requirements, operating pressures, systemic vs. contact pesticides, and reducing driftable fines.
